Materials

Scraps of 4ply in four colours

Set of 5, size 2.75mm double-pointed needles Polyester stuffing

With two of the double-pointed needles and Pink, cast on 4 sts. Following the chart for the placing of the design, work increases/decreases as follows:

1st round: *Kfb. Rep from * around. 8 sts.

Divide sts onto 4 needles. Join into a round: taking care not to twist stitches.

Place marker at first st.

2nd round: K8.

3rd round: *Kfb. Rep from * around. (16sts)

4th round: K16.

5th round: *K1. M1. K2. M1. K1. Rep from * around. (24sts)

6th round: K24.

7th round: *K1. M1. K4. M1. K1. Rep from * around. (32sts)

8th round: K32.

9th round: *K1. M1. K6. M1. K1. Rep from * around. (40sts)

10th round: K40.

11th round: *K1. M1. K8. M1. K1. Rep from * around. (48sts)

12th round: K48.

13th round: *K1. M1. K10. M1. K1. Rep from * around. (56sts)

14th to 23rd rounds: K56.

24th round: *K2tog. K10. ssk. Rep from * around. (48sts)

25th round: K48.

26th round: *K2tog. K8. ssk. Rep from * around. (40sts)

27th round: K40.

28th round: *K2tog. K6. ssk. Rep from * around. (32sts)

29th round: K32.

30th round: *K2tog. K4. ssk. Rep from * around. (24sts)

31st round: K24.

32nd round: *K2tog. K2. ssk. Rep from * around. (16sts)

33rd round: K16.

34th round: *K2tog. ssk. Rep from * around. (8sts)

35th round: K8. Break yarn, leaving a long end.

Thread this end through the stitches but do not fasten it off yet.

Block the ball carefully then, when it is dry, fill it with polyester stuffing until it is quite firm.

Fasten off the 8 stitches securely. Fold the yarn in half and twist it tightly; fold it in half again to form a hanging loop and fasten it to the top of the bauble.
